I am a seasoned artist with 20 years of experience, and two degrees: an AA in Visual Communications, with an emphasis in multimedia, and a BA in Graphic Design. As a senior artist, I am meticulous in my work and take pride in my craft - they are a reflection of me, personally and professionally. My belief is one could have the most intriguing concept in the world; unless the concept is conveyed cleanly, vividly and correctly, the design will miss the mark.
My engagement in consistent learning across a variety of disciplines, keeps my career fresh. The broad scope of design and media knowledge I have obtained has prepared me to be the ideal candidate for a supervisor or Art Director position. Working with a team of junior designers in the past has been rewarding and challenging.
Graphic Design
A "catch all" for describing what I love to do for a living. As any designer in the field should know, it takes a lot more than knowing graphic design. It is a creative process of taking a desired message and transforming it into widely understood imagery.
Marketing
Having been a member of multiple marketing teams throughout the years, I have learned how to most effectively connect with a target audience. Marketing experience has been invaluable to my career.
UI/UX Design
I remember when the "UI/UX" term did not exist. Glad to know it's just a fancy new term for what I was already learning and practicing in the field.
Web Design
Learning and mastering web design has been a challenging process. The problem-solving aspect is most intriguing. Transactional (eCommerce) websites are the current way of life.
Photography
This started as a hobby and now fashion experience has increased my knowledge in this industry. Directing, styling and assisting photographers is hard work, though it may seem glamorous to some.
Video / Motion Graphics
My most recent experience has been for the digital signage medium. I am knowledgeable in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Animate. Video is an area which I would like to continue to explore in future roles.
Emotional Support System
I am blessed with two beautiful hound dogs named Emilee and Winston. They can never get enough attention (especially when I am doing freelance work from home). No matter what kind of day I am having, they always seem to bring a smile to my face.
